Freeze The Motion

The lighting could definitely would have been better on this snap, but I thought this snap would fit our theme for this week "Freeze the motion", playing with the shutter speed combinations.

This picture is taken with shutter priority at 1/100 Shutter speed. Capturing the focal plane with the moving swings was another challange. I thought the I was able to capture the 'motion' in the moment.

Of course the faster of the two objects (Isha, left in the image) showed a different behavior than the slower one. But the blurred image is in fact enhancing the 'moving' effect.

I would be interested to know from the experts in the group what are the flaws in the picture. Be open, I would value a valid critical feedback more than a 'encouraging' pat on back here.

Mayuresh - Isha's motion in this picture does give the "freeze" effect. I was wondering how would the picture look from a side angle..would that have given a better relative speed/motion angle than the front? also zooming in a little to eliminate the top and bottom portion would have enhanced the effect.

Positives:
1. You have chosen an appropriate subject for demonstrating the freezing effect.
2. The uniform green background helps the subjects to popup.

Improvements required:
1. I agree with Sameer in cropping the top red bar and bottom beige part. And even closer around the subjects.
2. Looking at Isha, I feel that the shutter speed is not adequate to actually freeze the motion to show adequate details. (You can see her facial details being lost bcoz of the motion blur). You can provide the tech details like aperture, s.speed, ISO etc to comment better on this.
3. Try a different POV to reduce the gap between the two and bring them closer in the frame.

I personally feel that you cud hv just covered Isha to convey the theme.

Mayuresh,

Nice attempt to play with shutter speed. The photo depicts two different themes - freeze the motion and motion blur. Looking at your comments it looks like you intestinally captured the motion blur, but that doesn't go well with the theme. Actually you could have tried something called "Motion Panning" for this shot. We should cover Motion Panning technique in the next Shutter Speed session.

Hey Mayuresh...what lens have you used for this shot? 45-150, @150 mm? If Yes, then the shutter speed is too low and that has caused the overall blurred picture.
