Shallo DOF

I am posting this another one. I understand it is better to upload one picture for theme, but thought this might be more helpful for everybody specially while in learning phase. I took this in Manual mode. Picture is bit dark. I guess Shutter Speed 1/80 would have helped here.

I paid unplanned visit to Ewing Park with wife today evening. This tiny flower caught my attention.

This flower is planted near home, backside in the parking lot. I tried to capture pollen grains and water droplets of the right-diagonal petal.

Shallow DOF

Caught this spider at work in my backyard. The focus has to be manual as it's almost impossible to focus on the tiny things. I hope it meets the challenge this week - "Shallow DOF"

Shutter Speed - 1/50
Aperture - 8.0

Slow shutter speed

Placeholder for a picture from Bendres.

Slow Shutter Speed - Outtake

Another one using the same technique.

Slow Shutter Speed

I wanted to use this technique for long time. The shutter opened in bulb mode in pitch dark room with black cloth in the backround. I said 1..2..3 and my wife is ready in the first pose, I fired the flash. Again the darkness prevails in the room when she change pose and come into second position. Again I said 1...2...3, fired the flash. So both poses from my wife is recorded on the single frame.

Manual Mode with Shutter in "Bulb" mode, Aperture 8.0, and ISO 100. You need to have focus set to manual while lights are on before turning off alll the lights and realase the shutter.

PP:

Healing and cloning to remove crease from the black background. Image resize to 800 pixels width. Save for web.

Slow Shutter Speed

I wanted to try something with Candle lights with slow shutter speed. So thought to capture same candle light more than once.

I took several pictures with keeping Slow shutter speed, and moving candles with hand. But was giving blurred image of the light. So, got one funny idea. :)

I lit up candle and put on table. Put camera on tripod with timer for 10 sec. after 13/14 seconds, put Black Shoe in front of camera lens with one hand, and moved the candle to nearby position with another hand. Then immediately removed the shoe. I could get 3-4 good pictures without blurred effect.

freeze the motion

Water seems to be the favorite for this theme, :)

Mode: Shutter Priority
Shutter Speed: 1/4000 sec (max that could use for my camera Oly E500)
Aperture: F6.3 (camera decided this)
ISO: 400 (needed to push this higher to get a decent exposure at such a high shutter speed)
Location: Swaminarayan temple

Freeze the Motion

Took this picture during Pooja's swim meet on thursday. I like the way water lifts with the hand and frozen like ice. I think it will fit the theme - "Freeze the motion" well.

Shutter priority to freeze the motion. Ample light allowed the fast shutter speed.

Shutter: 1/640
Aperture: 5.6
ISO: 100

Freeze The Motion

The lighting could definitely would have been better on this snap, but I thought this snap would fit our theme for this week "Freeze the motion", playing with the shutter speed combinations.

This picture is taken with shutter priority at 1/100 Shutter speed. Capturing the focal plane with the moving swings was another challange. I thought the I was able to capture the 'motion' in the moment.

Of course the faster of the two objects (Isha, left in the image) showed a different behavior than the slower one. But the blurred image is in fact enhancing the 'moving' effect.

I would be interested to know from the experts in the group what are the flaws in the picture. Be open, I would value a valid critical feedback more than a 'encouraging' pat on back here.
